Artist’s statement

I studied Fine Art Printmaking at Loughborough University before returning to the north of Scotland, where my journey with collagraph began three years ago following training at the Highland Print Studio.

 

The predominant theme of my work is the landscape of the Scottish Highlands, always populated in some way – occasionally by people, sometimes by animals, most often by birds. Each of my images attempts to capture a location or fleeting moment of personal significance and to connect with the viewer at a point somewhere beyond the superficial.

 

Most of my current output is collagraph printmaking, which with all its atmospheric possibilities seems the most apposite means of conveying the beauty and mystery of these moments and places.
